  • Basic Purpose

    PSTA is seeking a highly organized, independent, and motivated intern with strong communication skills to work within a collaborative team environment on the development of thoughtful and technically sound plans and projects.  The Intern will provide support in the development, analysis, implementation, and community engagement of PSTA’s transit planning and innovative initiatives. 


    This internship will last approximately 8 to 12 weeks and pay $14.00 - $15.00 per hour, for up to a maximum of 29 hours per week.

    Essential Functions

    Under the direction of our Director of Planning, this Intern will:

    Assist with data collection activities and data analysis


    Prepare brief memos explaining methodology and findings


    Create, analyze, and display data in engaging and user-friendly maps and graphics


    Update individual route maps to new standard


    Assist with development of a tracking system for sustainability program initiatives


    Conduct research to assist senior staff of projects and in policy development


    Assist with the preparation of presentations and other community outreach activities


    Other duties as assigned


    Learning Objectives:

    Understand the functions of a Planning Department within the public transit industry


    Develop new skills related to route, system, and strategic planning

    Minimum Qualifications

    Must be a full-time current Bachelor’s or Master’s degree student, or recent graduate (within previous 12 months)


    Education: Bachelor’s Degree in progress in Urban Planning, Public Administration,  Geography, or similar.  Preference given to Master’s Degree candidates.


    Experience: Experience with Microsoft Office, Adobe products including Illustrator and InDesign, and GIS is strongly preferred.


    Must possess or obtain and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license.
