Perform janitorial duties for PSTA's facilities, and assist Facilities Maintenance Workers as needed.
Performs heavy manual labor which include, but not limited to: cleaning of buildings, grounds, terminals, bus stops, and bus shelters; run errands and deliveries as directed by the supervisor.
Make minor repairs to buildings and fixed facilities.
Paints offices, garages, parking lots, and bus stop areas including terminals.
Installs and maintains bus stop signs, bus stop benches and shelters.
Operates power equipment which includes: pressure washer, floor scrubber, chain saw, power pruner, small power tools and other equipment.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Experience: At least two (2) years janitorial experience.
License: Valid Florida Driver’s License with 7 years good driving record.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of: Basic grounds and maintenance care for both buildings and vehicles; operation of small power tools.
Skills: Basic janitorial and construction skills.
Abilities: Must be able to perform physical labor, which include, but not limited to: lifting, bending, stretching and loading.
Hazards: Injury/illness exposure: Workplace Biohazard Exposures is a potential for this job function.
Supportive Equipment: Personal Protective Equipment: latex gloves, heavy industrial gloves (washable), protective shoe covers, mask, gown, goggles, cap/hat.
Standing: 6–7 hours/day for sustained periods of time on concrete, asphalt or grassy areas/gravel.
Sitting/Driving: 3-4 hours/day or more on a constant basis. Seat belt properly secured on required vehicles.
Walking: 6-8 hours/day on concrete, asphalt or grassy areas/gravel.
Physical Effort (Exerting weight or force to lift/pull/or move objects: Light work exertion (0-20 lbs of force) is 4 ½ -6 hours; medium work exertion (20-50 lbs. of force) is 2 ½-4 hours; heavy work exertion (50-100 lbs. of force) is 1-2 hours. Supportive equipment is available. Sedentary or very heavy work (over 100 lbs. of force required) is rare.
Pushing, Climbing, Stooping: Occasionally required from 2-3 hours/day (requiring lower extremities, back muscles and equilibrium).
Balancing: Rare activity, less than 1 hour/day.
Hand Coordination (picking, typing or working with fingers): less than 1 hour/day.
